Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano proudly announced the outstanding performance of Taguig City's student athletes at the NCR Palaro 2024, held recently.
The athletes brought home a remarkable total of 145 medals, comprising 31 gold, 39 silver, and 75 bronze medals.
This impressive haul saw Taguig City's Division rise significantly in the rankings, achieving 3rd place at the secondary level and 4th place overall, a tremendous leap from their previous 14th place ranking.
The city celebrated this achievement with a festive NCR Palaro Medalists Recognition event. The event also served as a send-off for the qualifiers who will compete in the upcoming Palarong Pambansa in Cebu City.
Mayor Cayetano expressed her pride and joy in the accomplishments of the 147 student athletes. She emphasized that this success is a testament to the collaborative efforts in enhancing support for the city's athletes.
The recognition event was attended by the athletes, their parents, coaches, mentors, and support staff, all of whom were honored for their dedication and hard work. Mayor Cayetano extended her heartfelt congratulations and encouraged the athletes to continue striving for excellence as they represent Taguig City on the national stage.
"Congratulations to our exceptional student athletes! Your hard work and determination have not only brought pride to yourselves but also to the entire city of Taguig. We are incredibly proud of your achievements and are committed to providing continued support for your future endeavors," said Mayor Cayetano.
As the athletes prepare for the Palarong Pambansa, the whole of Taguig City stands behind them, cheering them on and wishing them success in their upcoming competitions.
