Taguig City continues to promote nutrition and food security through its Urban Gardening/Home Food Production Program, with the recent distribution of freshly harvested vegetables from its urban gardens to patients in local health centers.

Spearheaded by the City Nutrition Office, this initiative is one of the city’s key strategies to reduce malnutrition in every barangay. The program encourages families to cultivate vegetables in their backyards or use vacant lots for planting, providing an alternative and sustainable source of food for Taguigeños.

Free Vegetables for Those in Need

The newly harvested vegetables are given free of charge to priority groups such as senior citizens, pregnant women, and breastfeeding mothers who visit the city's health centers. This effort not only helps improve the nutritional intake of vulnerable sectors but also highlights the importance of growing fresh produce at home.

Promoting Healthy Living Through Home Gardening

  • By supporting urban gardening, Taguig aims to:

  • Improve access to healthy, homegrown food

  • Promote self-sufficiency among families

  • Reduce the incidence of malnutrition in communities

This ongoing effort is part of Taguig’s broader commitment to a healthier, more resilient city — one where every household is empowered to grow their own food and care for their well-being.

The city encourages more residents to join the Urban Gardening/Home Food Production Program and be part of the movement toward better nutrition and sustainable living.
