The City Agriculture Office of Taguig is making significant strides in urban farming, consistently reaping the rewards of their hard work.
The seven urban farms in Taguig yield a variety of root crops, vegetables, and fruits, with harvests occurring two to three times a week. Each harvest averages around 50 kilograms, demonstrating the efficiency and productivity of these urban farms.
Among the harvested crops are Chinese cabbage (pechay), sponge gourds (patola), upland water spinach (upland kangkong), radish (labanos), jute mallows (saluyot), eggplants (talong), malabar spinach (alugbati), sweet potato tops (kamote tops), and Romaine lettuce.
These crops are a testament to the rich agricultural potential that urban spaces can offer when properly managed and cultivated.
The produce from these urban farms is not just a source of fresh, nutritious food but also a vital support system for several community programs and institutions.

The harvested crops are distributed to various beneficiaries including the city-run Taguig Pateros District Hospital (TPDH), Taguig Lingap Center, Taguig Bahay Pagasa, BJMP wards, Taguig Love Caravan medical and dental mission, and feeding programs in schools. This distribution network ensures that the benefits of urban farming reach those who need it the most, particularly in healthcare and education sectors.
Urban farming in Taguig is an initiative that aligns with the city's vision of sustainable development and community welfare. The consistent harvests and the strategic distribution of the produce highlight the city's commitment to food security, health, and nutrition for its residents.
Through these urban farms, Taguig is setting an example for other cities to follow, showcasing the potential of urban agriculture in enhancing food supply, supporting community health initiatives, and fostering a sense of community and cooperation among its residents.
