Every 8th of December, Taguig celebrates its cityhood day.

Taguig Cityhood

Taguig gained its cityhood and declared as Highly Urbanized City thru Republic Act (RA) No. 8487 dated December 8, 2004.

Originally established as a municipality on April 25, 1587, as part of the Province of Rizal, Taguig has a rich history that dates back centuries. However, it wasn't until January 1, 1918, that Taguig achieved complete independence as a city. This significant milestone was realized through the issuance of Executive Order No. (insert relevant EO number), signifying the city's autonomy and self-governance.

Today, Taguig Cityhood Day serves as a time for reflection, celebration, and recognition of Taguig's journey from its humble beginnings as a municipality to its status as a dynamic, Highly Urbanized City.

The occasion not only honors the historical significance of December 8, 2004, but also pays tribute to the continued growth, development, and achievements that define Taguig as a vital and progressive urban center in the Philippines.
