The city government of Taguig has introduced a heartwarming initiative to honor its centenarian citizens hailing from EMBO barangays.

In a touching gesture, the first centenarian from Barangay Post Proper Southside, lola Maura Agripa, aged 100, was presented with a ₱100,000 cash gift by Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano. This generous incentive is part of the city's commitment to its senior citizens who reach the remarkable age of 100.

In line with Mayor Cayetano's compassionate "Caring City" agenda, other centenarians residing in EMBO barangays, as well as across various barangays in Taguig, also receive a heartfelt ₱100,000 cash gift to celebrate their longevity while they are still alive.

What sets this program apart is the personal touch—these gifts are personally delivered by Mayor Cayetano herself on the recipient's birthday, eschewing digital banking or ATMs for a more human connection.

This initiative doesn't just stop at centenarians. Taguig City extends its care to senior citizens in different age brackets, recognizing their invaluable contribution to the community.

Those aged 60-69 receive ₱3,000 on each birthday, while those in the 70-79 age group are presented with ₱4,000.

For those between 80-89, the birthday gift is ₱5,000, and the exceptional seniors aged 90-99 are honored with ₱10,000 on their birthdays.

The city's commitment to its elderly residents goes beyond monetary gifts. For senior citizens dealing with health issues like diabetes, high blood pressure, and asthma, Taguig City provides free medication, ensuring they have access to the care they need to maintain a high quality of life.

Additionally, healthcare assistants make regular home visits to these senior citizens, offering invaluable support and ensuring their well-being. For those with mobility or hearing impairments, free wheelchairs, canes, and hearing aids are provided, further enhancing their quality of life and independence.

In Taguig City, the celebration of age and wisdom takes center stage, as the local government goes the extra mile to honor and care for its elderly citizens. This program not only recognizes their longevity but also acknowledges their valuable contributions to the community throughout their lives, embodying the true spirit of a "Caring City."
