Dubbed "Alay sa mga Natatanging Ina: Launching and Distribution of Cash Subsidy for Solo Parents," the initiative was spearheaded by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO).
The program marks the local implementation of Republic Act No. 11861, or the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act, alongside Taguig's City Ordinance No. 57, series of 2026. Under this local ordinance, qualified solo parents in the city are entitled to a monthly cash assistance of ₱1,000, translating to ₱12,000 annually, as well as a specialized solo parent purchase booklet.

A 'Business-Friendly' City Driving Social Welfare
In her address to the beneficiaries, Taguig City Mayor Lani Cayetano highlighted the city's fiscal capacity to sustain the program, attributing it to efficient tax collection and a thriving local economy.“Kung iisipin niyo napakabuti ng Panginoon sa city natin. Kasi actually po may mga ibang cities po na mas malalaki pa sa city of Taguig ay hindi po nila kayang i-deliver yung P1,000 a month," Mayor Cayetano said. "Pero dito po sa Taguig dahil sa biyaya ng Panginoon at sa patuloy nating pagsisiguro na business friendly ang city natin. Dahil saan po ba kinukuha yung mga insentibo po na ito? Diba po sa ating mga taxes." (“If you think about it, the Lord is so good to our city. Because actually, there are other cities larger than Taguig that cannot deliver the ₱1,000 a month... But here in Taguig, it's because of the Lord's grace and our continuous efforts to ensure our city remains business-friendly. Where do we get these incentives? Isn't it from our taxes?”)
To foster long-term financial independence, representatives from the Taguig Scholarship Office and the Taguig Manpower Training and Assessment Center (TMTC) presented accessible avenues for growth. They detailed educational scholarship opportunities for the beneficiaries' children and free, TESDA-accredited technical-vocational training programs designed to upscale the skills of solo parents for better livelihood opportunities.

“Napakalaking tulong po sa amin yung ibinigay na suporta... Lalo na as a single parent kami na talagang malaki ang pangangailangan ng aming mga anak lalo na sa pag-aaral," Mangosing shared, noting that she intends to budget the cash assistance primarily for her child's upcoming school expenses.
Alona Perez, 47, from Barangay Palingon Tipas, lauded the inclusion of informational seminars alongside the distribution.
“Maliban sa may cash assistance at bigas ay meron din kaming natutunan tungkol sa mga benefits namin as single parents... natutunan din po namin ang lahat ng scholarship programs na inooffer ng city... para mas mahasa yung skills at maging hanap buhay natin," Perez said. (“Aside from the cash assistance and rice, we also learned about our benefits as single parents... we learned about all the scholarship programs the city offers... to hone our skills for future livelihoods.”)
