Taguig City has emerged as the third highest-earning city in Metro Manila, according to the 2023 revenue data released by the Bureau of Local Government Finance under the Department of Finance.


With a substantial income of PHP 13.54 billion, Taguig City recorded an impressive 11% growth in revenue compared to the previous year.

The city was listed 5th in the Richest Cities in the Philippines with total assets of ₱36 billion according to COA's audit in 2022.

Quezon City (1st in ranking) topped the list with a remarkable PHP 27.41 billion in revenue, showcasing a 30% increase from 2022.

Makati City (2nd in ranking) followed with PHP 19.36 billion, marking a 26% rise in its income.


Top 10 Highest Earning Cities in Metro Manila

The top 3 cities mentioned above were followed by the  following:

  • 4th Pasig City - PHP 13.13 billion
  • 5th Manila - PHP 12.43 billion
  • 6th Parañaque - PHP 7.9 billion
  • 7th Pasay City - PHP 7.35 billion
  • 8th Mandaluyong - PHP 5.76 billion
  • 9th Muntinlupa - PHP 4.63 billion
  • 10th Caloocan City - PHP 4.09 billion


Valenzuela City secured the eleventh spot with PHP 3.98 billion, followed by Las Piñas with PHP 2.52 billion.

San Juan earned PHP 2.05 billion, Marikina reported PHP 1.58 billion, Malabon collected PHP 1.23 billion, Navotas garnered PHP 1 billion, and Pateros, despite being the lowest in total income, recorded a notable PHP 200 million.

Pateros distinguished itself with the highest income growth rate among all local government units (LGUs) in the National Capital Region, achieving a remarkable 65% increase from the previous year. Quezon City, Makati, and Mandaluyong also demonstrated significant growth rates of 30%, 26%, and 20% respectively.

Notably, six LGUs reported having no debt, reflecting strong fiscal management. These cities include Las Piñas, Makati, Parañaque, Pasig, Pateros, and Quezon City.

The revenue data underscores the economic vibrancy and effective fiscal strategies of these Metro Manila cities, positioning them as key drivers of the region's growth and development.
