In a heartwarming gesture that echoed the spirit of Christmas, Mayor Lani Cayetano of Taguig City officially launched the Pamaskong Handog program on Monday, November 20.


The initiative, designed to spread holiday cheer, focused on distributing noche buena packages directly to the homes of senior citizens, pregnant women, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).


As part of Taguig's commitment to being a Transformative, Lively, and Caring City, the house-to-house distribution strategy aimed to prioritize the convenience and safety of vulnerable groups during the festive season.


Mayor Lani emphasized the importance of avoiding crowded spaces, particularly for the well-being of seniors, PWDs, and pregnant women. The decision to take the celebration directly to their doorsteps was a thoughtful approach to ensure everyone could partake in the joy of the holiday season without compromising their health.


Accompanied by Ms. Evelyn Arago, the head of the Barangay Affairs Office (BAO), BAO staff, and the Taguig City Integrated Survey System (TCISS) staff, Mayor Lani personally visited residents in Barangay Lower Bicutan to hand-deliver the Pamaskong Handog packages.

Ramon Roxas, a 54-year-old person with a disability, expressed his gratitude, saying, "Sobrang masaya ako ngayong araw. Maraming salamat Mayor Lani para sa aming Pamaskong Handog," which translates to "I am very happy today. Thank you very much, Mayor Lani, for our Christmas gift."


Another resident, Ms. Modesta Dela Cruz, aged 71, shared her joy, "Natutuwa po ako dahil pinadali para sa amin, lalo na mga seniors, ang pagtanggap ng aming pang noche buena. Maraming-maraming ang aming Pamaskong Handog. Maraming salamat kay Mayor Lani Cayetano, isang butihing ina ng Taguig," meaning "I am happy because it was made easier for us, especially the seniors, to receive our Christmas Eve dinner. Our Christmas gift is abundant. Thank you very much to Mayor Lani Cayetano, a kind mother of Taguig."


These heartfelt expressions of gratitude highlighted the positive impact of the Pamaskong Handog initiative on the community.

The City of Taguig affirmed its commitment to spreading joy across different barangays, signaling that this was just the beginning of the Pamaskong Handog journey. The continuation of the distribution across various neighborhoods reinforced the city's dedication to inclusivity and care for its residents during the festive season.
