In a momentous stride towards enhancing infrastructure and fostering scientific curiosity, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has embarked on the construction of the Taguig City Science Terminal and Exhibit Center within the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Compound in Bicutan.
Led by DPWH National Capital Regional Director Nomer Abel P. Canlas, the groundbreaking ceremony marked the official commencement of this collaborative endeavor between DPWH, DOST, and the local government unit of Taguig City.
Originally conceived to alleviate traffic congestion and address commuter challenges in Bicutan, the project evolved over five years of conceptualization and deliberation. Initially envisioned as an integrated terminal, the plan expanded to include an innovative exhibit center, adding depth and relevance to its purpose.
Spanning across a 13,680 square meter area, the five-storey building will stand as a testament to innovation and progress. The first three floors will serve as a vital transportation hub, offering convenience to commuters, while the upper levels will house executive offices and the pioneering Science and Technology Exhibit Center.
Beyond its functional utility, the Science Terminal aims to ignite curiosity and inspire future generations, particularly students, to pursue education and careers in science. With a project allocation of P326 million, completion is slated for mid-next year, heralding a new era of scientific exploration and accessibility in the Philippines.
